An active and passionate participant in outdoor sports and activities, Mrs. Kitchen firmly believes that the current preoccupation with high-tech games and other sedentary diversions are making today’s children miss out on the beauty of the great outdoors. Through her varied and extensive work as an educator, Mrs. Kitchen has always stressed to her students an active appreciation of nature’s beauty and the need to be responsible participants in protecting the environment. Her work with students, fellow teaching professionals, and parents have aorded her the ability to successfully organize, implement, and assess learning programs unique to environmental concerns.
Mrs. Kitchen holds a BA from Michigan State University and a Master of Education from Texas Women’s University. Through her continued studies, she has become certied as an Educational Supervisor, Diagnostician and Reading Recovery Specialist. These certications have allowed her to address, develop and implement positive programs to empower the students she served. Further, environmental certications such as: Project WET/Urban Watershed, Project WILD, Project Learning Tree, Georgia Native Waters, Georgia Native Seasons allowed Mrs. Kitchen to combine her educational training with environmental curriculum to develop and implement environmental and wellness curriculum for Greening Youth Foundation.
