Shaborn Vail is a first generation college student from Kalamazoo, Michigan at the illustrious and historic Philander Smith College. He is an advocate for social justice, God fearing, and a positive spirit. Shaborn has focus, intelligence, and determination. He has embraced his role as student leader on campus and literally worked his hardest to fulfill everything that is required of him. Academically, Shaborn excels as a Psychology major with a G.P.A. that placed him on the President’s List. In addition to his commitment to academics, he is very involved on campus and in the community. In response to his involvement he has been awarded some of the top awards on his campus and in the community such as, Philander Smith College Renaissance Award, Outstanding Student President’s Award, and most recently Living Legends of Little Rock Arkansas Award. Shaborn is very adventurous individual that believes that knowledge is the gateway to freedom. He is looking forward to a very eventful summer with HBCUI and is ecstatic about learning new things and educating others.
