School: Tuskegee University Major: History Site: Tuskegee Institute & Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site
Greetings, My name is Sedric Wytch. I am a senior and a History Major at Tuskegee University. For as long as I can remember, history has been my passion. It is from history that we learn the lessons of life. I truly believe that knowing your history will help you make better decisions in the present and future. If you genuinely understand that some mistakes were made in your past, more than likely you won’t commit the same blunders in the present and future. History determines what solutions we offer for existing problems. It has been said that he who controls the past controls the future. People do not learn from the future, and learning from the present is an impossible task because with the blink of an eye or with one hand movement on a clock it becomes the past. Trying to learn from anything barring history would be futile at best.
My goal is to become a History Professor after Graduate School. I recognize that advanced training at the M.A. and Ph.D. level would help me obtain a teaching career at a university. I believe that teaching is one of the world’s most salient professions. My love for History was enhanced owing to the fact that I have had great History Professors at Tuskegee University. Being able to intensify one’s thirst for knowledge as a Professor is my biggest objective after Graduate School. This opportunity will only aid me in achieving my goals.
