Renee Alston-Maisonet is an unlikely conservationist. She has been referred to by her friends as a “city girl gone wild”, wild for the outdoors! This shift happened a little over 7 years ago while working at one of the top radio stations in Atlanta. This is where she met a “now” friend who invited her camping. The experience changed everything. While being exposed to outdoor activities as a child through Girl Scouts and 4H; this new level of engagement brought back many fond memories from a past that had been deeply tucked away. This experience evoked memories of spending time with her grandparents in Arkansas and helping with the family garden. As well as hearing tales of her mother’s childhood and her adventures in the cotton fields. These memories sparked an interest, an interest in doing more, exploring more and giving more! This radio head went from high heels to hiking boots. This exposure sparked a shift in “causes”, now instead of selling advertising for cars and designer clothing, those efforts have shifted to creating collaborative efforts to reshape the outdoor experience for minority explores. .

A little background; Renee’s early endeavors included working for a multi-media organization in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; WTMJ- Milwaukee / Journal Communications. There she learned firsthand how to integrate several mediums to deliver a strong and concise message to the masses. After establishing her career in electronic media in Wisconsin, Renee relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1992.

Over the last 28 years in Atlanta, Renee has worked in both print and electronic media. During her radio career she has worked at WALR-FM representing the Tom Joyner Morning Show, MAJIC 107.5 representing the Steve Harvey Morning Show; however the majority of her professional career has been spent at CBS Radio/ WVEE-V103 Radio as a Senior Multi-Media Account Manager.
